The Radiobiology Division is a self-sustained, highly integrated research program that complements and enhances the clinical, chemistry, and physics programs of the department as well as the other clinical and basic science departments and programs of the University. The Radiobiology Division presently has a faculty of three Ph.D. scientists and six staff members. The section studies underlying mechanisms in cancer formation and response to therapy at the molecular, cellular, tissue and whole organism level. The long-term goal of the research program is to improve radiation therapy response by understanding how tumors develop and how cells respond to radiation.
